Good oral hygiene is the foundation of a healthy and beautiful smile. It’s not just about “brushing your teeth” – the right technique, proper tools, and regular professional care make all the difference.
Toothbrush – Manual or Electric?
-
Manual toothbrush – should have soft bristles and a small head to reach even the difficult areas.
-
Electric toothbrush – cleans more effectively and makes proper technique easier.
👉 Always hold the brush at a 45° angle to the gums and use gentle circular motions. Brushing should take at least 2 minutes.
Interdental Brushes and Floss – The Key to Clean Spaces Between Teeth
A toothbrush alone is not enough. Up to 40% of the tooth surface is cleaned only with interdental brushes or floss.
-
Interdental brushes – ideal for larger gaps, as well as around bridges and implants.
-
Dental floss – better for tight spaces between teeth.
Use them daily, ideally in the evening before brushing with a toothbrush.
Caring for Bridges and Implants
-
With bridges, it’s important to clean the space under the pontic. Special floss with a stiff end or narrow interdental brushes are very helpful.
-
With implants, thorough cleaning is essential, as the surrounding tissue is more prone to inflammation (peri-implantitis). Special brushes and soft floss designed for implants are recommended.
Professional Dental Hygiene – Why Is It Necessary?
Even with excellent home care, it’s impossible to remove all plaque and tartar. That’s why we recommend professional dental hygiene 1–2 times a year.
During a hygiene session, we will:
-
remove tartar and stains,
-
clean hard-to-reach areas,
-
advise you on the best tools and techniques,
-
help prevent cavities, gum disease, and periodontitis.
👉 Proper care of your teeth, bridges, and implants prolongs their lifespan and protects your overall health. At Madaras Dental, we’re happy to show you how to clean your teeth most effectively and provide professional hygiene care to keep your smile healthy and beautiful.
